Actor Inner Inventory Check – What Seeds Are You Sowing This Fall?

Don’t wait for the New Year to start fresh—fall is the perfect season to pause, reflect, and refocus. As the leaves change, take this time to check in with yourself, set new intentions, and prepare for a more mindful holiday season. Below, you’ll find thoughtful journal prompts to help you explore different areas of your life—from personal growth to relationships and future goals.

So grab your favorite cozy sweater, a notebook, and a warm drink. Put on some relaxing fall music, and take a moment to ask yourself: What’s working right now? What do I need to release? And what do I want to nurture in the coming year?

Career & Artistry

  • What did you implement in your rehearsal or audition practice this year that really worked for you? How can you keep those things a part of your routine or process consistently?
  • Are there any limiting beliefs, unhelpful habits, or immobilizing thought patterns that you believe are holding you back from joy and freedom in your acting work or career? Write them all down and then focus on 1-2 of them. How can you combat these in the coming year?
  • What are 3 career goals you have for the upcoming year? Remember- these should fully be in your control and be doable in a year.

Community & Relationships

  • Who were the people you really enjoyed spending time with this year? These could be friends, family, classmates, etc. What were some of your favorite memories? How do you feel when you spend time with these folks?
  • Who are 1-3 people that you would like to deepen your relationship with? This can be a family member, friend, work colleague, partner etc. Commit to prioritizing spending time with them in the coming year. Brainstorm some ideas of what you could do together.
  • If you are struggling with building community and friendship as an adult, what do you feel is getting in your way? What are some activities, places, or situations that could help facilitate making new connections? Can you commit to being brave and trying one of these in the new year?

Health & Wellness

  • What really worked for you this year in terms of your health and wellness- both physical and mental? How did these habits make you feel? How can you continue to prioritize these habits or practices in the coming year?
  • What are some aspects of your health or wellbeing that you would like to work on? Pick one you’d like to focus on and create a game plan on how you’d like to implement it next year. Commit to it for a month and take stock on how you feel.
  • What are some habits you have that might be limiting you? How do they limit you? How do you think you would feel or operate if they were no longer in your life? Focus on 1-2 of them that you feel are most limiting. How can you combat these in the coming year?

Joy & Creativity

  • What hobbies or activities brought you a lot of joy this year? How did these hobbies enhance your life? How can you prioritize making time for these joyful activities in the coming year?
  • What is 1 new hobby or creative endeavor you’d like to try next year? Is there someone you’d like to try this new hobby with?
  • How can you implement more joy and creativity in your daily life? Come up with a game plan for 1-3 small things you can do every week to make sure you continue to romanticize your life and keep yourself creatively fed.
